I dropped my
laundry off for pickup before the 9am deadline and observed several Disney
employees shuffling cartloads of pre-packaged meals to various rooms throughout
the casitas area we inhabited.
Additional greenies have invaded our space and were under quarantine for
their required period of time. With the
playoffs starting additional press and the like were allowed to enter but they
needed to follow the same procedure we endured over five weeks ago. I am able empathize with them and their
situation but before you know it they will be out roaming the grounds with us.
ESPN has all the games today so we Turner folk had three games of whiffle ball to play. We had a morning game, an afternoon game, and an evening game. During the evening game one of my teammates pointed out that I had yet to lose a game. Actually, I had not paid attention to that but looking back on the contests we had played previously he was right. At the conclusion of the twilight match up I left COVID Field still undefeated. I am going to keep this quiet. Everyone wants to knock off the champ. If I don’t let them know I won’t have a target on my back.
I was invited to go to the driving range around 5pm and I was excited as hell to get off the grounds again. I called the VIP desk to confirm my reservation and was all set to catch a bus at 4:30 pm for a little links practice. Around 4:00 pm I received a call that I had been mistakenly approved to get on the practice tee as today was for players only and unfortunately they had booked me in error and I could not go. I was completely bummed about that error but I got over it by playing in the nightcap of the whiffle ball match ups.
Do you remember Sabrina, the chiropractor that yearned to play whiffle with us? Well, she plays whenever she can and she brought with her a plethora of wellness devices. I have always taken great pride in my conditioning but the short sprints to first base while playing whiffle ball have caused my quads and hamstrings to hurt like hell. I am one hundred percent sure it is not lactic acid built up in my muscles. My damn muscles are strained and sore and I needed relief. I inquired about this to her and she promptly provided me with one of those muscle rollers to help massage the muscles and work the old blood out and new blood in. I sat in my room late into the evening slowly working my legs hoping her provided apparatus would heal me by the morning. I knew that would never occur but I did get a great deal of relief massaging myself. They felt better already and I knew that if I continue my self-therapy in the days ahead, I won’t look like an injured deer running to first base any longer.
Not much really occurred today. I’m off again tomorrow, but after that, my schedule will ramp up and I will be working a lot of hours as we move forward. I know I am getting a bit bored with the routine yet I know I need to take advantage of the down time when I have it. Soon I will be working two games a day with not a whole lot of rest in between so I need to appreciate the rest when it is afforded.
